Massachusetts courthouses will remain closed to the general public until at least July 1, 2020, except for emergencies. The Trial Court departments have issued standing orders and guidelines specifying what constitutes an emergency matter in that particular court and have posted all such orders and guidelines on the Court System Response to COVID-19 webpage.
The courts are conducting court business virtually where it is practicable to do so.
All jury trials, in both criminal and civil cases, are continued to a date no earlier than September 8, 2020.
All bench trials in civil cases are continued to a date no earlier than July 1, 2020 unless the trial may be conducted virtually. All bench trial in criminal cases are continued to a date no earlier than July 1, 2020 unless the trial may be conducted virtually by agreement of the parties and the trial judge.
Your attorney will contact you when notified by the court of any hearing dates.
The Legal Service Fund continues to operate with staff both physically present in the Burlington office and working remotely. All phone calls to our main office number at 781-273-3939 are answered by a staff member with access to files from 9:00 to 5:00 every day. At all other times, calls to this number are answered by our answering service. All telephone messages are responded to by the responsible attorney.
