Sept. 9-13 is Construction Suicide Prevention Week
Laborers –
Working in the construction industry comes with its unique challenges. The long hours, physical demands, and high pressure can take a toll on our mental health. Construction workers face some of the highest suicide rates compared to other occupations, highlighting the need for increased awareness and support. As we recognize Construction Suicide Prevention Week, it’s important to remember that feeling overwhelmed is a normal part of life, and reaching out for help is a crucial step toward well-being.
As a Laborer, you have access to several supportive programs at no cost:
- 988 Lifeline: Available 24/7 for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress, whether it’s thoughts of suicide, a substance use crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. You can also text or dial 988 if you’re worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.
- Laborers’ Support Network: Whether you’re dealing with grief, family issues, or mental health challenges, the Laborers’ Support Network is here to help you find someone to talk to and offer support. Just call 800-522-6763.
- 24/7 Telehealth Services: Through Cigna’s telehealth program, you can discuss everyday stress and anxiety, consult a physician for minor medical or emotional health concerns, and more. Visit MDLive from your MyCigna.com dashboard to sign up.
Talking about our feelings and seeking help is a sign of strength. There’s no shame in acknowledging when we need support.
Remember, you’re not alone on this journey. Reach out, talk it out, and let’s build a stronger, happier, and healthier future together.
In good health,
