Stay healthy and happy this holiday season

Published On: December 20, 2024

Between holiday preparations, parties, and traveling to visit with family, it can take extra effort to find time to take care of ourselves during the holiday season. Here are a few tips to help you make healthy choices this holiday season:

  1. Make nutritious ingredient swaps. You don’t have to give up your favorite holiday dishes to stay healthy. When cooking your favorite meals, try small recipe adjustments to reduce sugar and/or fat, and add more nutrient-dense ingredients. For example, swap white flour for whole grain, or use less butter to reduce fat content.
  2. Manage your portion sizes. If your heart is set on eating your grandmother’s famous pumpkin pie, consider taking a smaller slice. Controlling portions may be an easy way to eat the foods you like while keeping your health in mind.
  3. Drink more water. 9-13 cups a day is ideal for your health.
